What You’ll Need to Make this Smoothie

Strawberry smoothie ingredients.

Key ingredients:

  • Strawberries: The start ingredient in this smoothie recipe. They are rich in vitamins, fiber, and an exceptionally high antioxidant level. They are also sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food.
  • Raspberries: They give that additional flavor to this smoothie recipe, but they are also high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Read the following article to learn more about raspberries’ health benefits.
  • Banana: I used a fresh banana. It’s serving as a base of this recipe. It gives the smoothie thickness. If using frozen banana, hold off of the ice.
  • Milk: In this case, I used the regular whole milk, but you can substitute it for any other milk you prefer.
  • Maple syrup: Adding a little bit of sweetness to compensate for the tartness from strawberries and raspberries.
  • Ice: For this recipe, I used crushed ice.

See recipe card for quantities.

Why You’ll Love this Smoothie

  • Refreshing and tasty: The flavor combo of strawberries and raspberries is refreshing and delicious. With the added banana, this smoothie will have the perfect creamy consistency.
  • Packed with antioxidants and nutrients: This smoothie is loaded with nutrients and does not have a lot of added sugar, depending on how many sweeteners you add.
  • Easy to make: As with most smoothies, it is so easy to make this recipe. When you use a high-powered blender, you will make this smoothie within a few minutes.
  • Customizable: You can customize this recipe per your preferences. Please refer to the Substitutions and Variations section below.

How to Make

This is the easiest recipe ever.

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  3. Start blending at low speed, then gradually increase the speed.
  4. Pour into a glass, use your favorite straw, and enjoy!

Expert Tips and Tricks

  • Use a high-powered blender: Because we are using frozen fruit and ice, I recommend using a high-powered blender. Blending all ingredients without having any larger chunks left will be easier.
  • Scrape down the blender edges with a spatula if needed: If you are using all frozen fruit or less liquid, you may need to scrape down the blender edges with a spatula. This way, you will ensure that all ingredients will blend until smooth.
  • Don’t over-blend: Even though we use frozen ingredients, you don’t want to over-blend the smoothie. This will ensure the perfect consistency, and it will stay chilled longer.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Use different milk: You can use any milk you prefer. Please note that the milk you use can alter the smoothie’s flavor.
  • Use all frozen fruit: If you prefer, you can use all frozen fruit. You may need to adjust the amount of liquid and omit the ice.
  • Omit ice: If you don’t like adding ice to your smoothie, omit it altogether. Adjust the amount of liquid accordingly.
  • Adjust the amount of liquid: Add more or less milk based on your preferences.
  • Different sweeteners: You can use honey or agave syrup as a sweetener. Adjust the amount per your taste.

How to Serve

You can serve this smoothie in any glass you prefer. I like to use either metal or paper straws.

Storage

This smoothie won’t store well. Storing this smoothie will water it down, mainly if you use ice. It’s best if you drink it right after making it.

FAQ

Does strawberry and raspberry go together?

Yes, absolutely! Strawberries have a more neutral flavor which compliments the raspberries, which are more acidic and sweet.

What is the best liquid to put in a smoothie?

Some of my favorites are milk, non-dairy milk, or juice.

How thick should a smoothie be?

Smoothies should be manageable, not too thick, so you can drink them with a straw or too thin that it feels like you are drinking juice.
