Ingredients

Baileys mint martini ingredients.
  • Baileys: I used the Baileys Espresso Liqueur. I love the creaminess and richness the Baileys gives to this mint martini.
  • Crème de Menthe: The vibrant mint green color comes from the DeKuyper Crème de Menthe Green. It also gives an excellent mint flavor to this martini. It’s perfect for Christmas or St. Patrick’s cocktails.
  • Vodka: Just half an oz to kick it up a notch. I used Tito’s vodka. Feel free to use your favorite vodka.
  • Creamer: I used half-and-half to give this martini a smooth, creamy flavor and texture. For different options, please refer to the Recipe Variations and Ingredients Substitutions.
  • Garnish: I used whipping cream, crushed candy canes, and shaved dark chocolate for the garnish. It looks incredibly festive!

Why You’ll Love this Cocktail

  • Excellent after-dinner drink or a special holiday cheer: This martini is perfect for the upcoming holiday season. It’s genuinely a dessert in a glass!
  • Flavor: For all the Baileys lovers, you will be familiar with coffee’s intense taste and aroma, with a hint of vanilla notes. Also, Crème de Menthe gives just the right amount of mint flavor.
  • Vibrant green color: Every time I make this martini, I am amazed by the beautiful mint green color. Adding more or less Crème de Menthe will affect the green color’s vibrancy and the mint flavor.

Equipment and Tools Needed

  • A cocktail shaker
  • A strainer
  • Something to measure the liqueur, like a jigger

Don’t have some of the tools I mentioned? No worries, this article from FOOD52 gives excellent suggestions for the replacement!

Expert Tips and Tricks for Success

  • Chill the martini glasses: I always chill the martini glasses in the freezer for at least 10 – 15 minutes to ensure the drink will stay cold longer.
  • Use large martini glasses: Use large martini glasses to avoid any accidental spills. There are many ingredients in this cocktail, and we are adding whipping cream, which will add volume to the glass.
  • Use crushed ice: To make this martini extra frothy, use crushed ice.
  • Shake vigorously: This is a crucial step. Make sure to shake vigorously to combine all ingredients, and make it foamy.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Use regular Baileys: Use the traditional Baileys if you don’t have the Baileys Espresso flavor.
  • Substitute DeKuyper Crème de Menthe: If you don’t have Crème de Menthe Green, you can use Peppermint Schnapps Liqueur. The taste will be slightly different, and you won’t have the green color. Also, you can use the Crème de Menthe White. The flavor will be the same, except it won’t have a green color.
  • Use other creamers: If lactose intolerant, use 2% lactose-free milk. For more dairy products, you can use whole milk.
  • Use different garnishes: You can experiment with garnishes and put your twist. Dip the rim of the martini glasses in melted chocolate and coat it with the crushed candy cane. You can also serve this drink with a whole candy cane for candy lovers!

How to Serve

You can serve this mint martini with or without garnishes. If you want to cut down on calories, feel free to omit the garnishes, especially the whipping cream.
