    Ingredients

Puff pastry ham and cheese turnover ingredients.

Here is the complete list of all ingredients needed for this recipe. For precise measurements, please look at the recipe card.

    • Puff Pastry: My favorite puff pastry is the Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets. Whether you make a sweet or savory recipe, this pastry is so great. It’s flaky and yummy.
    • Cream Cheese: The cream cheese gives it that nice creaminess, and it has a delicious flavor.
    • Mozzarella Cheese: Mozzarella cheese is one of my favorite cheeses.
    • Quesadilla Cheese: Quesadilla cheese is another cheese that I use often. It goes very well with mozzarella cheese.
    • Smoked Uncured Ham: I used the combination of smoked uncured ham and oven-roasted turkey breast. I bought the pre-sliced package, so it speeds up the preparation. You can pick whichever meat you like. This meat package is just one of my favorites.
    • Egg: We are using beaten egg to seal pastry edges and have that nice golden finish on top.
    • Salt and Pepper: Adding just a little bit of salt and pepper to the beaten egg.
    • Sesame seeds: I loooove sesame seeds. I like to sprinkle them on top for added texture and flavor.

    Instructions

Step 1: Thaw two pastry sheets at room temperature for 40 minutes or until easy to handle. As in my puff pastry garlic flatbread recipe, I used Pepperidge Farm puff pastry sheets.

Step 2: Preheat the oven to 400 Fahrenheit. Place a parchment paper on a baking pan.

Step 3: Dust the working surface with the flour and roll out the pastry slightly larger than the original size. Cut each pastry sheet into four equal pieces.

Step 4: Place 1-2 teaspoon of cream cheese on each pastry piece. Then, place 1 slice of smoked ham or turkey breast meat and add shredded mozzarella and quesadilla cheese.

Step 5: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg (with a pinch of salt and pepper). Fold the puff pastry squares in half, making triangles. Press the edges of the pastry with the fork.

Step 6: Brush the beaten egg on the tops of the turnovers. Make small cuts into each turnover and garnish with sesame seeds.

Step 7: Bake for 20-22 minutes or until puff pastry is golden and puffed. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. The melted cheese will be very hot. Enjoy!

    Storage

These are best when you eat them fresh out of the oven or warm. But if you have any leftovers, place them in an air-tight container for up to 2 days.

When you want to eat them, just put them in a microwave for 30 seconds.
