This strawberry banana milkshake recipe is done in 5 minutes and with a couple of easy steps! You can fully customize it per your taste preferences.

I did not add any additional sugar or sweetener, and even though I added vanilla bean ice cream, the strawberry flavor will be dominant in this banana strawberry milkshake.

Have you ever tried a milkshake without ice cream or a strawberry Oreo milkshake? They are worth a taste!

    Ingredients

    Strawberry banana milkshake ingredients.
    • Strawberries: I used a combination of frozen and fresh strawberries. Frozen strawberries will cool off the milkshake, and also it will make it thicker.
    • Banana: I used one fresh banana. Banana will add natural sugar, and it will make it creamy.
    • Ice cream: I used vanilla bean ice cream. Feel free to use your favorite vanilla ice cream or substitute it for strawberry ice cream.
    • Milk: I used whole milk for this recipe. This milkshake will be medium thick, but you will still be able to drink it with a wide straw. Adjust the milk amount per your taste. Also, feel free to substitute the whole milk for milk of your choice.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Why You’ll Love this Milkshake

    • Easy to make and a few ingredients:
    • Refreshing and delicious:
    • No added sugar:
    • Fully customizable:

    Equipment and Tools Needed

    • High-powered blender
    • Measuring cups and spoons

    How to Make

I love making milkshakes because it’s so easy and fast.

    1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
    2. Add your favorite syrup (this is optional) and pour the milkshake into a tall glass.

    Expert Tips and Tricks

    • Use a high-powered blender: Since we are using frozen strawberries and ice cream, I recommend using a high-powered blender to ensure that all ingredients will blend easily.
    • Use high-quality ingredients: There are not a lot of ingredients in this milkshake, so make sure to use high-quality ingredients. Ice cream quality will affect the milkshake taste.
    • Use ripe banana: When making a smoothie or a milkshake, please use a ripe banana. If you are using a not ripe banana, it won’t blend properly and won’t taste good. The more ripe banana is, the sweeter the taste will be.
    • Use a mix of fresh and frozen fruit: To create a perfect milkshake consistency, use a blend of fresh and frozen fruit.

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Omit ice cream: If you want to make this milkshake healthier, omit the ice cream. I recommend using less milk in this case.
    • Make it vegan: If you want a vegan milkshake, replace ice cream with vegan ice cream and use any non-dairy milk.
    • Use different ice cream: The options are endless. I like the vanilla ice cream, but feel free to use strawberry ice cream or any other flavor you want.
    • Use different milk: I used the regular whole milk. You can use any milk you want or even half-and-half. The ice cream will be thicker if using half-and-half or heavy whipping cream.
    • Add favorite toppings: I kept it simple and added just a little bit of French vanilla almond granola on top. You can add a strawberry syrup or any other syrup you prefer. Also, you can add fresh fruit on top, especially if you have a very thick milkshake (fruit wont sink to the bottom).

    How to Serve

Any tall glass will work. With the number of ingredients for this milkshake recipe, you will have one large portion or two smaller portions.

    Storage

I recommend drinking the milkshake as soon as you make it. The texture and consistency might change if left in the fridge.

    FAQ

    Are milkshakes healthy?

No, not really. Considering the ingredients we are using to make a milkshake, you will have lots of sugar added.

Can I use only fresh fruit to make a milkshake?

Adjust the liquid amount if you use only fresh fruit to make a milkshake. Also, I recommend using heavy whipping cream instead of milk to create a thicker milkshake consistency.

How to make a thick milkshake?

To make a thick milkshake, add less liquid and use heavy whipping cream instead of milk.

What’s the difference between a milkshake and a smoothie?

Smoothies are generally healthier, and they don’t have ice cream.
