This frothy oat milk matcha latte is made with just three ingredients and five minutes! It’s creamy, rich, and full of flavor.

When we got hit with another winter storm the other day, it was a perfect opportunity to make a matcha oat milk latte – curled up under a blanket, reading a book, and sipping a warm and delicious creamy oat milk matcha latte – goals.
If you’re a matcha lover, try other recipes like the matcha chai latte and the matcha turmeric latte. However, a cup of hot chocolate, warm spiced fruit drink, or sweet Šerbet might do the trick if you’re in the mood for something more indulgent.

Ingredients
- Matcha powder: I used culinary-grade matcha powder. It’s perfect for lattes, smoothies, and baking. The brand that I love is Jade Leaf.
- Brown sugar: I love using brown sugar as a sweetener in this matcha latte recipe. The flavors pair so well together.
- Oat Milk: I used regular oat milk without additional flavor or additives.

What is Matcha
Matcha is stone-ground green tea leaves processed into fine tea powder. There are two types of matcha:
- Ceremonial grade
- This type of matcha is traditionally served whisked just with hot water
- This type of matcha is not made with other sweeteners
- It’s more expensive
- Culinary grade
- Used for smoothies, lattes, or baking
- Less expensive
Health Benefits of Matcha
There are many health benefits of matcha. Here are just a few:
- Helps with weight loss
- Boosting the metabolism
- Boosts energy
- Strong antioxidant
- Improves skin elasticity
- Reduces stress
- Boosts the immunity
Equipment
- Blender: Use any high-powered blender. Don’t have the blender, no worries. Use a cocktail shaker or tightly sealed jar and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Measuring cups and spoons: We need measuring cups to measure ingredients correctly.
- Microwave-safe bowl: We are making a hot matcha latte, so we need to heat the oat milk in the microwave (this is the fastest way). You can also warm the milk on the stove, but make sure it doesn’t boil.
Instructions
- Before pouring the oat milk, shake the milk container well.
- Add oat milk to a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
- Add all ingredients to a blender and mix on high speed for at least 5 seconds until well combined. If you don’t have the blender, put all ingredients into a cocktail shaker or tightly sealed jar and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Pour into a mug.

Expert Tips and Tricks
- Use high-quality matcha powder: For the matcha latte recipe, it’s excellent to use culinary-grade matcha. Just pay attention to the packaging. Ensure the packaging is tightly sealed, and matcha powder is not exposed to sunlight.
- Don’t overheat the milk: If you use boiling water or milk, it will damage the matcha powder and affect the taste of your latte.
Substitutions and Variations
- Adjust the matcha amount: The best matcha amount, per my taste, is anywhere between ½ to 1 teaspoon of matcha powder per serving. If you are not used to matcha flavor, start with ½ teaspoon per serving.
- Use different milk: Any non-dairy milk will work for this matcha latte. I don’t recommend dairy milk for this latte since it does not complement the flavor of matcha.
- Use different sweetener: For this recipe, I used brown sugar as the sweetener, but feel free to use maple syrup, honey, etc.
- Make it iced matcha latte: To make an iced oat milk matcha latte, skip the step of warming the milk, add a few ice cubes to a mug or glass and pour the matcha latte over ice.
FAQ
