This Matcha Turmeric Latte is a great option to start your morning or to perk up your afternoon without the coffee jitters. It’s a creamy and frothy beverage with earthy tones packed with nutrients and antioxidants.
Add milk, coconut oil, turmeric powder, and ground ginger to a medium size pot and heat on medium-high heat. Whisk with a wire whisk until the coconut oil dissolves and all spices are well incorporated with milk.
Heat until it simmers (until 5 minutes). Occasionally whisk with a wire whisk.
When the milk starts simmering, froth the milk with a wire whisk until foamy. To make it even frothier, froth with a hand milk frother. Remove from the heat.
Add warm water to a tall glass or cup. Add matcha powder. Froth with a hand milk frother until no clumps are left (around 5-10 seconds). Another option is to use a bamboo whisk.
Pour matcha paste into warm golden milk. Mix until combined. If preferred, froth with a hand milk frother for a foamier latte.
Pour the latte into a heat-resistant cup or a mug. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg if preferred, or add some dry edible flowers for a pretty presentation. Enjoy!
Notes
Pick smooth and creamy milk (avoid oily options it can have an unpleasant texture and taste).
Water temperature matters, do not boil water. It will burn matcha, producing a more bitter flavor (176 F or 80 C).
