This irresistible 3-ingredientBlueberry Simple Syrup will elevate every drink. This vibrant syrup is made with fresh blueberries, sugar, and water, adding fruity flavor to everything it touches. It's perfect for drizzling over pancakes, stirring into yogurt, or mixing cocktails.
In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, water, and sugar.
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
Lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool down for 10-15 minutes.
Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the solids. Use a spoon to mash the blueberries and thoroughly remove any excess syrup.
Transfer the strained syrup to a clean, sealed glass jar or bottle and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Keep the jam in a separate air-tight jar in a fridge for 2-3 days.
Notes
Don't Overheat: Avoid boiling the syrup for too long, as this can result in a jammy consistency rather than a smooth syrup.
Adjust Sweetness: Taste the syrup as it simmers and adjust the amount of sugar accordingly to suit your taste preferences.
Strain Thoroughly: Before storing, strain out the solids to ensure a smooth syrup.
Keep the Jam: Blueberries’ skin breaks down easily, so I suggest keeping the remaining blueberries after straining the syrup. Store them in an airtight jar in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Adjust the thickness of the syrup: This syrup will be thin, so if you prefer the thicker syrup, simmer it longer.
Double the recipe: You can always double the recipe if you need more.
Use different sugar: I used a granulated and light brown sugar mix. It has the best balance between sweetness and a hint of caramelized note. Feel free to use the sugar you prefer.
